The Ventura County Office of Education offers California Classified School Employee Program (CSEP) grant funding. CSEP is a state-funded career pathway program for classified employees, leading to a teacher preparation program and teaching credential.  Eligible program participants may receive stipends for up to $4,000 to cover tuition, fees, and books.

Participants who meet all the requirements must complete one school year of classroom instruction in the school district, charter school, or county office of education for each year that financial assistance was received.

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

1. Employed by a Ventura County public school district and working as a classified employee (e.g., paraprofessional/paraeducator, instructional aide, tutor)
2. Completion of an Associates or higher level degree or completion of at least two years (minimum 48 college-level units) of study towards a BA degree at a post-secondary educational institution.
3. Agrees to become Multiple Subjects, Single Subject, TK, or Special Education teacher
4. Enrolled in a University/Credential Program (minimum of 18-semester units per school year)
5. Cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher
6. Obtained a Certificate of Clearance from CTC
7. Basic Skills Exam (CBEST) (not required for initial application)


 

PARTICIPANTS MUST COMMIT TO ACCOMPLISHING ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Graduate from a partnering U.S. regionally-accredited institution of higher education with a bachelor’s degree.
    • Partnering IHEs: California State University Channel Islands, California State University Northridge, National University, University of La Verne, Pacific Oaks College, Cal Lutheran University, Alliant International University, and University of Massachusetts Global.
  • Obtain a California preliminary multiple subject, single subject, TK, or educational specialist teaching credential.
  • Complete a school year of classroom instruction for each year of financial assistance received after obtaining the California preliminary multiple subject, TK, single subject, or educational specialist teaching credential.
