Q Chat Live formally named Virtual Q Café is a casual, monthly, online session with access to subject matter experts.  Do you have questions about Q that you haven’t gotten around to ask your district support staff about? Or, maybe you have a question on how other districts are handling a certain situation in Q? The Q café will review timely Q related topics and include an open forum for our Q users’ community to ask any Q related question.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Do you build the master schedule for your Middle School or High School?  Do you have experience with master scheduling, but need more training for the Q SIS?  Do you have experience collecting course requests, adding sections to the master schedule, and hand scheduling students?

If you said yes to all those questions, you may be a good candidate for this training! This training is shortened and fast tracked to accommodate staff who have experience in Secondary Scheduling but may need to brush up on using the latest version of Q SIS to get the job done.  We will also give you tips and tricks to make your job a bit easier.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
Recommended Prerequisite: VCSIS Schedule Building Theory and or previous experience in building a Master Schedule.

The techniques you will learn will focus on preventing explosive behavior and safely managing physical crisis.  Training in these techniques will be required in order to correctly utilize "Emergency Behavior Interventions" outlined in the SELPA plan in compliance with California Code of Regulations - Title 5, Section 3000.  

This is a blended training. Participants are required to complete an online portion prior to attending the in-person training. If the online portion is not completed, participant will NOT be admitted to the in-person training. Participants must complete BOTH the virtual and the in-person training and pass a written examination in order to receive full certification.

NOTE: The Ventura County SELPA is only authorized to certify employees of the SELPA districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools and contractors.  We are not able to oversee the integrity of the interventions utilized by persons who are not our employees, nor are we able to ensure that they attend annual refresher courses.  People who do not meet these criteria are welcome to attend, but will not be CPI certified.

DRESS CODE: Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  No open toed shoes, sandals or heels otherwise you will NOT be allowed to participate. 

Please be prompt: Participants must be checked in prior to the 8am start time. Participants who arrive more than15 minutes after the training begins will NOT be admitted and will have to reschedule their in-person training date.

Administrators, Principals, and TK TOSAs/Coordinators are invited to join the VCOE TK TOSA/Coordinator Community of Practice for our second annual UTK Learning Journeys. During these learning journeys, TK TOSAs/Coordinators will provide a tour of a TK classroom in their district. This will be an opportunity to view high-quality TK classroom environments that emphasize active, hands-on learning for TK children, to learn about their TK implementation successes, and to discuss creative ways  to work together to ensure all our UTK children thrive.

Everyone who is certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention MUST attend a 3.5 hour refresher every 12 months in order to keep the certification active.  This is critical to maintain your skills and also very important for liability reasons.

Dress Code:  Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  No open toed shoes or sandals or you will NOT be allowed to participate. 

Please Be Prompt: Participants must be checked in prior to the 8am start time. Participants who arrive more than15 minutes after the training begins will NOT be admitted.

Middle School Arts Education: Grades 6-8

VCOE is excited to announce this year’s schedule of meetings for our “Wellness Community of Practice”! The Wellness Community of Practice is a blending of the former Wellness Center Community of Practice along with SEL School Counselor Community of Practice. We are choosing to consolidate these meetings and bring you an engaging and useful series of gathering this school year that mix up live meetings with Zoom meetings.  Altogether, these gatherings aim to highlight effective practices and to invite discussion around them. We welcome all educators with an interest in supporting student wellness into the community of practice.
