ABOUT THE CONFERENCE:
The end of the school year can be a time of celebration and excitement, but it can also bring unique challenges for children with autism. From graduations and dances to parties and other social events, these activities can overwhelm children, disrupt routines, and cause anxiety for both parents
and kids. This workshop is designed to equip parents and caregivers with the tools, strategies, and insights needed to help their children navigate the end-of-year events with confidence and ease

This fulfills requirements towards Ventura County SELPA Autism Certification Program Module VI Instructional Methodology (Para).

There is no cost associated with this event,
however, online registration is required.

CALPADS data has an impact on funding, accountability, compliance, and decision making. Session 3 of the CALPADS leadership training series will focus on the connection between the CA School Dashboard and the CALPADS End of Year (EOY) submission. District/Charter Administrators will be provided with resources to prepare for the EOY submission deadline in preparation for the 2025 Dashboard. Join the California Department of Education (CDE) Special Education Division staff for its Fall CALPADS Special Education Data Roadshow!

These sessions will train local special education data coordinators and Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA)-level staff on the updates and changes for the CALPADS End of Year Submission as well as other special education-related data. The training will cover:

  • IEP Implementation Data Collection
  • Preparing for End of Year
    • End of Year Deadlines
    • Example EOY Calendar
    • Local special education data system audit
  • Data Submission and Error Resolution
    • High Frequency Data Discrepancies
  • Reviewing EOY Reports
    • EOY State Performance Plan Indicators

SELPA staff, district, and site-level special education data coordinators are welcome to attend. CALPADS local educational agency (LEA) administrators may attend only if space is available.

*In-person attendees are encouraged to bring devices that will allow them to download and view CALPADS reports and their SEDS. 

**This workshop is available in person or virtually via Zoom. You will be able to choose your prefered way to attend during the registration process.

Ventura County Mathlete Challenge

4th and 5th grade students in public schools throughout Ventura County are invited to participate in a mathematics competition event that is exciting and challenging. 

Each school may use a screening process of its own design in order to select four students from each grade level (4th and 5th) who will best represent the school at the Ventura County Mathlete Challenge. 

Registration is $50 per school.  Ventura County Public Schools can register a 4th and 5th grade team for a total of $50.  Registration opens November 1 and ends January 31.

Multilingualism Leadership Network 2024-25

The Ventura County Multilingualism Leadership Network is a professional learning and collaborative growth space for educators from across our county who serve and support multilingual communities, students and their families. Sessions are fundamentally designed on assets-based pedagogies that elevate the cultural and linguistic fortitudes of the varied typologies of multilingual learners in our schools while concurrently supporting their needs. California's overarching vision of educational equity for multilingual students is that each classroom is an equitable, inclusive, responsive, and supportive learning environment where all students thrive and develop the competencies that will allow them to pursue the greatest number of postsecondary options and live a fulfilling and rewarding adult life of self-actualization attainment.

The Wellness Community of Practice is a blending of the former Wellness Center Community of Practice along with SEL School Counselor Community of Practice. We are choosing to consolidate these meetings and bring you an engaging and useful series of gathering this school year that mix up live meetings with Zoom meetings.  Altogether, these gatherings aim to highlight effective practices and to invite discussion around them. Youth Mental Health First Aid

Mental Health First Aid from National Council for Mental Wellbeing. 

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

VC SIS: Intro to Q Reports Canvas Training

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Intro to Q Reports is a course that will walk you through all of the areas of a report in Q. You will learn where to find reports, how to sort and filter selections to get the most meaningful data, how to save custom settings, and how to publish your report results to a .pdf or export to Excel. Additionally, you will delve into Report Writer, learn to design a custom report and how to effectively use Pivot Tables allowing you to drill down to the precise data you need.

This robust class is designed to conveniently fit into your busy work schedule. It is held over a 3 week period of time asynchronously. It’s flexible in that you may choose to finish all 4 hours of instruction in one setting, or to spread out the material over a span of time during the 3 weeks. You will receive feedback from your instructor throughout the time you spend in the course. Upon successful completion you will receive a digital badge/certificate you can add to your resume/portfolio and or provide to your LEA showing off your new skill set and ability in Q.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:
This is a hands-on, self-guided, asynchronous, Canvas course. Participants will need a desktop / laptop computer with internet access to be able to complete the assignments in Q SIS game training database. Your instructor will send you information about how to get started in Canvas and how to log into our training system prior to the beginning date of the class.

PM. NCPI Refresher

Everyone who is certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention MUST attend a 3.5 hour refresher every 12 months in order to keep the certification active.  This is critical to maintain your skills and also very important for liability reasons.

Dress Code:  Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  No open toed shoes or sandals or you will NOT be allowed to participate. 

Please Be Prompt: Participants must be checked in prior to the 8am start time. Participants who arrive more than15 minutes after the training begins will NOT be admitted.                                                                               
                      

NOTE: The Ventura County SELPA is only authorized to certify employees of VC SELPA school districts, charter schools, non-public schools and contractors.  We are not able to oversee the integrity of the interventions utilized by persons who are not our employees or ensure their attendance at required annual refresher courses.  People who do not meet these criteria are welcome to attend but will not be CPI certified.
