Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) Meaningful Observation Training

DRDP Meaningful Observation training (recommended for those who have previously attended a DRDP teacher training or a hold working knowledge of the DRDP) is designed for educators to observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning and development as well as plan individualized and group curriculum.

In this training learn about the purpose of observation, observing and collecting evidence, organizing an observation system, reviewing and reflecting on documentation, and rating the DRDP.

Everyone who is certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCPI) MUST attend a 3.5 hour refresher every 12 months in order to keep the certification active.  This is critical to maintain your skills and also very important for liability reasons.

Dress Code:  Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes.  No open toed shoes or sandals or you will NOT be allowed to participate. 

Please Be Prompt: Participants must be checked in prior to the 8am start time. Participants who arrive more than15 minutes after the training begins will NOT be admitted.
                                                                           

NOTE: The Ventura County SELPA is only authorized to certify employees of VC SELPA member school districts, charter schools, non-public schools, and approved contractors. We are not able to oversee the integrity of interventions provided by individuals who are not employed by these entities, nor can we ensure their participation in required annual refresher courses. For this reason, individuals who are not employed by a VC SELPA-affiliated agency are not eligible to attend this training.

Attendance Tracking for ASES, 21st CCLC, & ASSETs Programs

This workshop provides a high-level overview of attendance requirements for ASES, 21st CCLC, and ASSETs programs and explores how attendance data connects to funding, compliance, and continuous quality improvement (CQI).

Participants will review foundational grant expectations, gain shared context using state guidance, and be introduced to the ASAP Connect Attendance Tracker as a practical tool to support accurate tracking, goal-setting, and ongoing reflection. The session will focus on helping programs understand why attendance matters—not just how to report it—and how data can be used to support program sustainability and informed decision-making.

This is an overview session designed to build shared understanding across roles. It is not intended as a fiscal audit or advanced technical training.


Participants will:

  • Review core attendance expectations across ASES, 21st CCLC, and ASSETS grants

  • Understand how attendance data connects to funding and program sustainability

  • Explore how attendance tracking supports CQI efforts

  • Receive an overview of the ASAP Connect Attendance Tracker and its intended use

  • Engage in discussion and reflection grounded in real program contexts

Our shared goal is to create equitable learning environments where every student—regardless of background, identity, or ability—can thrive.

Parents/caregivers: Are you looking for safe, effective strategies to help de-escalate your child when they get upset? This training will provide an overview of verbal de-escalation strategies and safe ways to support a child when they become physically dysregulated. NCPI (National Crisis Prevention Intervention) is a SELPA-approved training to assist adults working with and supporting school-aged children. The workshop will give parents and care givers insight into behavior patterns of their child. ideas for intervening early as behaviors start to escalate, and ways to keep everyone safe.

Paths to Connection: An Outdoor Learning & Family Engagement Series

Paths to Connection: An Outdoor Learning & Family Engagement Series is a professional learning experience designed for Expanded Learning staff and program leaders across Region 8. This series supports participants in strengthening Expanded Learning programming through outdoor education, mindfulness, social-emotional learning, and family engagement practices.

Through guided outdoor learning experiences, facilitated dialogue, and shared reflection, participants will explore practical strategies and insights for creating inclusive, culturally responsive environments that foster connection among students, families, staff, and community partners. The series includes in-person hikes at the Wind Wolves Preserve in Kern County, modeling how outdoor spaces can be used to promote well-being, relationship-building, and meaningful family engagement.

The series culminates in a community-centered outdoor experience that brings together multiple stakeholders to reflect on learning, celebrate growth, and identify ways to sustain outdoor and family engagement practices beyond the series.

This course is the second session in a three-part master schedule training series and is designed for middle school and high school staff who use Q SIS and have limited or no prior experience building a master schedule. The focus of this session is on the technical features, tools, and workflows within Q SIS that support master schedule creation.

Participants will receive structured instruction on setting up and managing scheduling components in Q SIS, including course setup, section creation, scheduling parameters, and master schedule configuration. Emphasis is placed on understanding system functionality and applying best practices to successfully build a master schedule within Q SIS.

This session builds directly upon the concepts introduced in the Master Schedule Building Best Practices session and focuses on using the technical features and tools within Q SIS.

Required Prerequisite:

NCPI Level One

The techniques you will learn will focus on preventing risk behavior and safely managing physical crisis.  Training in these techniques will be required in order to correctly utilize "Emergency Behavior Interventions" outlined in the SELPA plan in compliance with California Code of Regulations – Title certification.  

This is a blended training. Participants are required to complete an online portion prior to attending the in-person training. If the online portion is not completed, participant will NOT be admitted to the in-person training. Participants must complete BOTH the online and the in-person training and pass a written examination in order to receive certification.

NOTE: The Ventura County SELPA is only authorized to certify employees of the SELPA districts, charter schools, nonpublic schools and contractors.  We are not able to oversee the integrity of the interventions utilized by persons who are not our employees.
