Gateway accepts Ventura County students who have been expelled from their district of residence. Gateway has a middle school program (6th-8th grade) and high school program (9th-12th grade).
Gateway strives to expedite the student referral process and to ensure good customer service to districts, parents, and the students we serve.
Please contact Araceli Osuna, Induction/Transition Specialist, if you have questions regarding this process.
The district of residence must submit a full referral packet to Gateway School with the following information included:
- Rehab Plan/Expulsion Notice
- Documentation of interventions
- Transcripts
- Testing Scores & ELPAC (if applicable)
- Immunization Records (includes TDAP eff. 11/12 SY)
- Attendance
- Discipline/Suspensions
- Most recent Individual Education Plan (IEP), Special Education Documentation, or 504 Plan (if applicable)
- Most recent Psychological Report (if applicable)
Please make sure referral packet is complete. Packets missing any information, a Gateway representative will contact the district representative to advise & request of missing documents. This can slow down the process of enrolling the student at Gateway, so please ensure all information is included.
Students with an IEP-For students eligible for special education services, please follow this link for special education referral procedure. Note that an IEP meeting must be attended by a Gateway representative to discuss the change of school placement. To schedule a meeting, please contact our office at (805) 437-1460 or email our School Psychologist, Ryan Tanney, at rtanney@vcoe.org.
