Three Ventura County elementary schools are being honored as 2018 California Distinguished Schools by the California Department of Education. Schools that applied were eligible based on their performance and progress on the state indicators as described on the California School Dashboard. The winners of the 2018 Ventura County Science Fair were announced at an awards ceremony this evening at the VCOE Conference and Educational Services Center in Camarillo. The Ventura County Office of Education is proud to present the 64th Ventura County Science Fair on Friday, March 23. This year, the Science Fair moves from its longtime location at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura to a new venue at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.Approximately 500 Ventura County students will be presenting more than 350 projects. Three additional local high schools will join the winner of the Ventura County Academic Decathlon in the statewide competition to be held in March in Sacramento. The Ventura County Office of Education is pleased to announce that the winner of the 2018 Ventura County Academic Decathlon is Calabasas High School. Coming in second place is La Reina High School, followed by Westlake High School, which came in third.
